Bloomberg Businessweek Assignment

Relate a business periodical written within a month of the assignment due date to an

Intermediate Accounting I topic listed on your syllabus. Your write-up should include: a

summary of the article; a summary of the applicable portions of the FASB codification,

with appropriate reference to all relevant FASB ASC; and, a clear discussion of how the

article relates to the accounting topic from class you selected with a notation of the

chapter and page number(s) in your textbook where the topic is located. In addition you

should discuss any differences or, if none exist, discuss a lack of difference between US

GAAP and IFRS for the FASB Codification referenced in your paper.

You may not use your textbook as a reference. All discussions of accounting topics

should be backed with a source from the FASB codification or IFRS accounting

standards as applicable. Put the information in your own words (paraphrase—tell me

your source; citing the source is a requirement.). When citing a source please use

parenthetical references in the text; for example, you would reference a source from the

FASB codification as: (FASB ASC 310-10-50-1 ). For more information on referencing

the FASB codification, please see the FASB’s “Learning Guide” found at

https://asc.fasb.org/help&analyticsAssetName=home_page_tuorials_and_help. In

addition, a reference section is required at the end of the paper.

Your report, excluding the reference section, should be no more than three pages, double-

spaced, 1 inch margins, Times New Roman, 12 font. Good grammar, spelling, and

punctuation will be considered in grading.

You must work independently on this assignment.

The assignment is due Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 11PM. Please upload your

assignment to Canvas (Turnitin) by that time. Only assignments uploaded to

Canvas on time will be viewed as turned in; no late assignments will be accepted.
