thank for your video is very informative ,when a client has engaged in drinking alcohol so much so that he cannot quit on his own, it becomes a problem which is known as alcohol use disorder. Alcohol use disorder is considered a brain disease due to the fact that alcohol causes some changes in the brian making it difficult for an addict to quit. In the case of your patient who has been drinking and non-complaint with his medication, I think you need to start him on vivitrol injection is given every 4weeks.
Using a drug such as Vivitrol to help maintain sobriety during that time may help boost long-term success rates. Vivitrol is a potentially powerful tool in that mental health providers can use in combination of psychotherapy treat opioid and alcohol dependency. This patient will benefit from cognitive–behavioral therapy which can take place one-on-one with a therapist or in small groups. This form of therapy is focused on identifying the feelings and situations that lead to heavy drinking and managing stress that can lead to relapse.
The goal is to change the thought processes that lead to excessive drinking and to develop the skills necessary to cope with everyday situations that might trigger problem drinking. Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and other 12-step programs provide peer support for people quitting or cutting back on their drinking. Combined with treatment led by health professionals, mutual-support groups can offer a valuable added layer of support.
